We have learned lots about marriage agencies in the over 9 years we have been operating our group, and one of the more surprising things we have learned is how dishonest many agencies are. This is especially true of many of the agencies that only have physical locations in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova. These agencies are run by people who make a living by cheating their men clients and the Russian women clients who deal with them. Some of the ways they cheat people are these:

1. They bully the Russian girls into paying for new photos, as often as possible, and of course only photos taken at the agency are permitted. We only use photos our Russian women bring to us. Some photos are studio photos, most are family photos. They also charge the Russian girls to pick-up their e-mail, even after the male client has paid for this service.

We NEVER charge our Russian girl members any money for any reason.

2. * They sell the Belarus women, Russian women profiles and photos without the knowledge or permission of the women. We receive on average about one offer per month to sell our database of Russian girls, and to purchase women's profiles from other agencies. We believe this is a dishonest practice. Here is one example of one such offer, an actual e-mail we received from a new agency.

3. In cases where ladies are scammers, these agencies will help them collect money from male clients, for a percentage of course. Are you worried about being the victim of a female scammer? You should be worried if you attempt this process of finding a Russian woman without any help on both ends. We have Olga, Valentina, Elena, and Alexander & Ludmila in our office in Vitebsk. Of course, there are many enterprising young Russian girls in the former FSU who have gone into business for themselves. Here is an interesting article Nina found from the publication "Gazeta Ru."

                           Young "hackers" detained.

Their methods were extremely simple. They posted pictures of very
beautiful ladies on large matchmaking networks like Match.com,
Kiss.com and Friendfinder.com. They used spam technologies and
initiated contacts with men who posted their profiles on these
sites. They received tons of letters and replied back to every letter
in no time using pre-written pattern templates. Of course, the 'girls'
fall in love very quickly. Their letters were signed 'I love you' and
'I kiss you'. Of course, the men wanted to meet their 'brides' as soon
as possible and asked what they should do. The reply was always the
same. 'Please send me $300-500 for the tourist visa and $1000 for the
plane tickets by Western Union'. After the money had been received,
the girl disappeared.

As seen on national TV (RTR):

    Anatoly Platonov, a press-secretary of Department "K" of the
Ministry
    of Internal Affairs the Russian Federation said, 'A citizen of the
USA
    applied to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs complaining that
he
    was swindled out of about $2000 by a Russian citizen'. Similar
    complaints were submitted by citizens of Canada and Austria.

At the end of the last week, investigators of MVD's detained several
persons in Yoshkar-Ola. They rented apartment where they had computers
connected to Internet. It is interesting that gullible western men
corresponded not with girls at all but with computer program written
by two young (20-22 yo) "hackers". They also made money selling email
addresses of men to owners of xxx-sites and spamming. The girls were
used only to get money at Western Union offices. Their passport
information was sent to the victims. The 'bosses' paid $50 for every
transfer regardless the sum.

    The turnover of the cheaters is estimated at several hundreds of
    thousands of US dollars. 'Criminal group was operating about 1.5
    years.. Criminal proceedings were instituted against one of the
    participants for "computer crimes" before', said A.Platonov. Now
    they are prosecuted for fraud (Article 159 of the Criminal Code).

It should be noted that all the victims either wrote to 'girls' whose
profiles were posted on free web-sites or were contacted by scammers
first. Members of legitimate screening agencies in Yoshkar-Ola did not
suffer.

Now homework for you. Check the web-site of the agency you are a member
of. Try and answer several questions. Just for yourself. To be on the
safe side.

. Are there names of the owners or workers of the agency on the
web-site?
. Is there contact information: street address and telephone number(s)?
. Who owns the bank account (if it is posted): a private person or a
company?
. Does this agency screen all ladies before advertising their profiles?
. Does this agency advertise only ladies that looks like models?
. Were the lady's letters sent from a "free" mail-service like
@hotbox.ru or @pochtmat.ru?

4. They charge lots of money to list women on their site. Often, these ladies have a very difficult time trying to pay these fees, but they have dreams of meeting a nice guy. We NEVER charge our female members any money for any reason. 

5. Some of these scam agencies hire old ladies to write letters to male clients, showing beautiful photos of ladies they purchased, or stole, from other sites. They have no idea who these photos belong to, and they don't care. They simply charge for the letters, and gifts, to these "ghost" Russian women. 

6. You will notice agencies opening and closing in Belarus and the FSU all the time. They manage to set up a site on the web, put Russian bride ads in the newspapers, collect some money, then close without any notice. This is especially true of the agencies without any connections to the West. When you select an agency to work with, we think it is best to select an agency with a physical presence in the West and in the East.

We are not trying to be the largest agency on the Web. We want to be the best introduction and marriage service available, and we operate in a totally honest manner at all times. We like to stay small to keep it possible to really know all our Russian women members and all our male clients. You will be joining a group of people who can help you during the process of finding your Russian bride, to bringing her to your home wherever that might be in the world, and after you are married and living together.

The world is full of the "Mega Sites," the impersonal agencies who only exist to sell tours, socials, and addresses of unknown women. Those large and impersonal sites only help to get men in trouble. We intend to keep the number of Russian women we represent at about 600. We believe agencies that have many more than this number simply can't keep up with that many women. We will replace women who become engaged with new women members to keep the number within that range.

When looking at agencies, ask yourself these questions:

Does the agency owner post their names, physical address and phone number on their site?

Can you call and speak with real, live people? Can you visit them?

Does the agency really know their women, or do they post thousands of women's profiles from all over Eastern Europe on their site?

Does the agency provide you with support during your visit with your woman?

Does the agency provide support AFTER your marriage?
