What have we got this beautiful September morning....We hear Hurricane Gustav wasn't as bad as everyone feared....That's great news....Hurricane Hanna will be a Dud....We hope! Also....Hurricane Ike is roaming around out there in the Atlantic....Enough with the Hurricanes Already!

We have some Football News from Across-The-Pond from our Buds Brett & Rob....

First....Brett concerning Arsenal:

Football Update:

Wednesday evening - Arsenal won 4-0 against Dutch side FC Twente in a Euro Champions League qualifier (winning 6-0 on aggregate) to progress to the main group stages.

Belarusian side FC BATE Borisov caused a wonderful stir in European circles by qualifying for the group stages as well – it was so unprecedented, people were finding out where they came from!. Completely unfancied, they beat all the odds. I suspect each game they play in the Champions League, they will earn more money than what they would take in one ENTIRE season. Good news – there are six matches to play!!!! Guess which team I shall have a soft spot for!!!!

Then in the early evening game on Saturday, Arsenal won 3-0 against Newcastle with a performance which was mesmerising at times, but crucially, there was much more heart compared to last weekend’s shambles. Maybe our season has finally started?

Let's hope so Brett! Congrats! Cool about the Belarusian Team too!

And....Rob concerning Manchester City:

OK Bud.... The weekends score: Sunderland 0 City 3!
A good win and Shaun Wright-Phillips got 2 goals on his
return to our club... Thats 3 wins outa 3 this week!

Been busy all day here....Another Stunning late summer day here in Akron Ohio.

How are you guys doing?? I hope that you had a very nice weekend and over
here weather wise finally it feels like summer in the daytime!!!!
Greg tell your Brits not to forget also Manchester United because they can
give them if they play good quite some competition again this year!!!! And
by the way when it comes to soccer-football- there are no
neutrals!!:):):):):)
At least I see that your Indians are waking up and are winning their games
and as for my Yanks well forget it this season!!!!!!

We'll say we're from Antarctica....They don't have a Football team down there....We Hope!

Also Bud, big big news about City....We were about the
60th richest club in the word and about 6th in England!
But it all changed yesterday !!! We are now the number
1 richest !!! We were bought by the Adu-Dhabi Royal
Family and they make 200 billion! Yep, 200 billion a year
proffit !!! ... We then smashed Englands biggest
transfer paid for a footballer on the same day !!
We will be the best team in England and Europe in the
next couple of years....We will buy the best players
in the world !!!!!
I'm living in dreamworld !!!!!!

 

Well Rob....CONGRATS TO MANCHESTER CITY BUD! They make 200 Billion profit a year? What are they....In the oil business or something?? ;-0

She was standing in the kitchen
preparing to boil eggs for breakfast,
wearing only the 'T' shirt that she normally slept in.

As I walked in almost awake,
she turned and said softly,
'You've got to make love to me this very moment.'

My eyes lit up and I thought,
'I am either still dreaming or
this is going to be my lucky day.'

Not wanting to lose the moment,
I embraced her and then gave it my all;
right there on the kitchen table.

Afterwards she said, 'Thanks,' and returned to the stove, her 'T' shirt
still around her neck.

A little puzzled, I asked, 'What was that all about?'

She explained, 'The egg timer's broken.

It's Friday! :-) Jim sent us a nice joke....To help Kick-Off the Weekend! Thanks Jim!

Subject: OH! To Be 8 Again...

   A man was sitting on the edge of the bed, observing his wife,
looking at herself in the mirror. Since her birthday was not far off he
asked what she'd like to have for her  Birthday.  
   
   'I'd like to be eight again', she replied, still    looking in
the mirror.  
   
   On the morning of her Birthday, he arose early, made her a nice
big bowl of Lucky Charms, and then took her to Six Flags theme park.
What a day! He put her on every ride in the park; the Death Slide, the
Wall of Fear, the Screaming Roller Coaster, everything there was.
   
   Five hours later they staggered out of the theme park.  Her head
was reeling and her stomach felt upside down. He then took her to a
McDonald's where he ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a
chocolate shake.  Then it was off to a movie, popcorn, a soda pop, and
her favorite candy, M&M's.
   
   What a fabulous adventure! Finally she wobbled home with her
husband and collapsed into bed exhausted.  
   He leaned over his wife  with a big smile and lovingly asked,
'Well Dear, what was it like being eight again?'  
   Her eyes slowly opened and her expression suddenly changed. 'I
meant my dress size, you dumb ass!'  
   
   The moral of the story: Even when a man is listening, he is gonna get it wrong.
     

 

Ain't that the truth! ;-0

So....for us Browns fans....Perhaps a little Sunday afternoon gardening....Say between 1-6 in the afternoon....No TV....Will take our minds off Football? Therapy....?

Yesterday being 9/11 and all....I decided not to comment on the Newsletter. If I had....The conversation would have drifted over to our useless "leadership" in this country....

I have more respect for the victims of 9/11 than to mention our "leadership" on that day. Enough said....

So....Onward....

Today being Friday....Rainy here....but Friday....We still have what....ten days left of summer! Where did the summer go? Get out and enjoy while you can!

We had hurricane Ike roar thru here last evening....Lost power for 3 hours....Missed the first 3 quarters of the Browns/Pittsburg game....Which the Browns lost 10-6....

Congrats to you Pittsburg fans!

We have a bunch of tree-limbs down....But no major damage here. Got some clean-up work today....

Our Good Bud Brett sent us his Across-The-Pond-Football-Report concerning Arsenal....Congrats Brett!

Sports Update:

Arsenal produced a great display at Blackburn, winning 4-0 courtesy of an Adebayor hat-trick! The result means that Arsenal are now third in the table!

Congrats to Arsenal on that Win!

Tuesday Afternoon, September 16, 2008.

We got our clean-up done....only tree-limbs down....nothing major....after Hurricane Ike hit our area. Things are just about back to "normal"....Whatever that is! ;-0

Our Good Bud Rob sent us his Across-The-Pond-Sports-Report concerning Manchester City. Thanks Rob!

I watched the Browns game !!!! They did real well..... I can now watch any NFL game now over the internet.........
 
City got dunn by the best team in London (Chelsea) 3-1. It was billed as battle of the billionaires......
 
So to lose was a bummer !!! But they have had 5 years building a team, we have had two weeks !!! 

 

City will be fine Rob....Takes some time to get the team together Bud! Thanks about the Browns....We need our first win of the season! Perhaps this week at the Ravens? Cool you can watch the games on the internet.

After 20 years of marriage, a couple was lying in bed one evening
when the wife felt her husband begin to touch her in ways he hadn't in
quite some time.  It almost tickled as his fingers started at her neck
and then began moving down past the small of her back.  He then slid his
hand across her shoulders and neck, slowly working it down over one
breast, then the other, stopping just over her lower stomach.

He then proceeded to place his hand on her left inner arm, caressed past the side of
her breast again, working down her side, passed gently over and then
in-between her buttocks and down her leg to her calf. 

Then he proceeded up her inner thigh, stopping just at the uppermost part of her leg.
He continued in the same manner on her right side, then suddenly
stopped, rolled over, and became silent.  As she had become quite aroused by
this caressing, she asked in a loving voice, "That was wonderful.  Why
did you stop?"  "I found the remote," he said.

Now that's a great little joke! ;-)

We didn't fully realize the extent of the damage parts of Ohio received from Hurricane Ike last Sunday. Strange to talk about Hurricane damage in Ohio....But that's what happened.

Harold sent us a report from the Southern Ohio area....Here's what he told us. Thanks Harold!

Here's a report from southern Ohio. We had gusts measuring from
75-84mph. A hurricane starts at 74mph :-). As of 9pm 16 Sept Columbus,
Dayton, and Cincy have a combined 750-900,000 still without power.
Yellow Springs which has a lot of old 100+ year trees looked like a war
zone. I fortunately had power back at 1am on Mon and dial-up too.
Actually spent Mon feeding info to the local NPR station since all they
had was a generator. Talk with you later.

We have another beautiful morning here in Akron Ohio....

Jim sent us another nice joke....Thanks Jim!

A man, while playing on the front nine of a complicated golf course became confused as to where he was on the course. Looking around, he saw a lady playing ahead of him.

He walked up to her, explained his confusion and asked her if she knew what hole he was playing. 'I'm on the 7th hole,' she replied, 'and you are a hole behind me. So you must be on the 6th hole.'He thanked her and went back to his golf.

On the back nine, the same thing happened and he approached her again with the same request.
'I'm on number 14, and you're still a hole behind, so you must be on the 13th hole.' Once again he thanked her and returned to his play.

He finished his round and went to the clubhouse where he saw the same lady sitting at the end of the bar. He asked the bartender if he knew the lady. The bartender said that she was a sales lady and played the course often.

He approached her and said, 'Let me buy you a drink in appreciation for your help. I understand that you're in the sales profession.
I'm in sales also. What do you sell?'
'I'll tell you, but you're going to laugh,' she replied.
'No, I won't.
'Well, if you must know,' she answered, 'I work for Tampax.'
With that, he laughed so hard he lost his balance and fell off the bar stool.
'See,' she said.. 'I knew you'd laugh!'
'That's not what I'm laughing at,' he replied, 'I'm a salesman for Preparation H, so I'm still a hole behind you.

In Cyprus Omonia 1 city 2!  A nice win....We have them now at home 2 weeks tonight, and yep as always Ill be there!!!  If we progress through to the group stages Ill be off around Europe watching my boys !!!

Beautiful Fall morning here in Akron Ohio....We hope everyone had a nice weekend! We made the mistake of staying home yesterday to watch the Browns/Ravens game. Congrats to you Ravens fans. Ya think we could get the Browns involved in some High School league....somewhere?

Little sports update:

Arsenal won 3-1 at Bolton, a result sending us to the top of the league, as the nearest challengers all drew their respective matches. Going to enjoy the ‘view’ while I can, it won’t last!

Our good Bud and member Jim up in Michigan went to the Drag Races, at a place called Ubley Dragway....which is located in the thumb of Michigan. Jim sent us these cool photos....Anyone who loves Drag Racing will enjoy these shots. Thanks Jim!

We have another Stunning Fall morning here in Akron Ohio....That will be changing by tomorrow. We have some real chilly air moving in from Canada.

We want to welcome Jim to the group this morning! Jim hails from Georgia, he happens to be a real nice guy....We know that because he happens to be a big Drag Racing fan! We have lots in common! :-) Jim has quite an interesting career....And he has a great sense of humor! So....

Our good Bud Brett sent us his Across-The-Pond-Sports-Report concerning Arsenal. Well Brett....Our Congrats & Condolences!

 

Arsenal fielded a bunch of kids in their midweek cup match and sensationally won 6-0 against Sheffield United. It was the youngest side Arsenal had ever fielded, so all bodes well for the future.

Then on Saturday, it was the turn of the senior side, who came a cropper! They lost 2-1 to unfancied Hull City! I hope the senior players will start to realise that the kids are really after their places, perhaps then the players will start playing with a lot more heart!

 

BTW....HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRETT! Our newest member of our "25 & Holding" Club! Have a Great Day Bud!

Speaking of Football....Our Browns beat the Bengals yesterday. Two hapless teams....One had to win I suppose....
