We have been operating our group for more than 11 years now, and our experiences have helped us to fine-tune our process to help our new members get started.
Each member is unique, so please understand we tailor our process to the desires of each individual member.

Having said that, we will explain our process in general terms, using questions we have had, and our answers. Please keep in mind we have new members calling us to join, some send us e-mail, and some use the regular mail.
We are always willing to call you, if you prefer, or you can call us. We like to get to know our members over the phone as much as possible. We also encourage our members, new and seasoned, to visit us here in Akron, Ohio. Our door is always open, you are always welcome here. Your membership never expires. We want you, and later you and your new wife, to visit us whenever it is possible.

Question: OK, I have joined the group. What happens now? How do I get started?
Answer: We will need photos of you and your children if you have kids. You can scan your photos and e-mail them to us. If you don't have a scanner, you can mail your photos to us, we will scan them, and we will send the originals back to you.
Your photos should concentrate on you in your environment, but we prefer you do not highlight your home, car, and so on. We want the women's attention to be focused on you, not your material possessions.
We will also need a letter of introduction from you. If you want to start writing to one woman, or three, one letter will suffice at first. This "generic" intro letter will be sent by us to our crew in Vitebsk, Minsk or Kharkov, along with your photos via e-mail. You can of course write a tailored introduction letter to each woman you wish to correspond with, the choice is yours.
It is best to keep your introduction letter short and to the point. Talk briefly about your feelings, and issues such as:
1. Where you live.
2. What you do for a living.
3. What type woman you are looking for.
4. What type woman you are not interested in.
5. What you like to do in your spare time.
6. What your dreams are for the future.
7. Be sure to ask the women questions, concentrating on the above issues.
Our people will go over your photos and intro letter with us, they will get a good picture of who you are from us and the material. Once they have a good feel for who you are, they will set-up individual appointments with the woman, or women you have chosen. During these meetings, they will have a discussion with each woman about you. Our crew will then determine who has genuine interest in corresponding with you, and you will soon receive intro letters from the interested women. Each woman is of course interviewed separately.
Question: How do I know which women are "busy?"
Answer: As you already know, we allow our female members to write to only one male member at any given time. We do not allow any competition between our male members.
As a male member, you are guaranteed that you are the only male member writing to any female member at any given time.
Our male members are free to write as many female members as they wish. We suggest our male members limit their correspondence to about 3-4 female members at any given time. We have found through experience that writing any more than that number at one time becomes confusing.
Our system works like this:
Note: You can send us a list of women you are interested in before you join, we will inform you which women are busy on your list before you join.If you see the "Busy" sign on a woman's profile page, that woman is seriously involved with one of our members.
If you see the "Engaged" sign, of course she is engaged to one of our members.
We ask you to submit a list of the women you are interested in writing. If any of those women are already corresponding with a member, we inform you of that fact, and we will not allow you to write that particular woman. As a general rule, less than 5% of our women are already corresponding with another member at any given time.
We will go over your list and give you our ideas on who we think are the best women for you to start writing. We might also offer you a few suggestions that might not have been on your list.
Please remember, the choice of who to write is always yours. We offer our opinion as a guide for you.
Question: I noticed the women state the age limit for a man on their profile page. Is this a strict limit, or is it a guide?
Answer: The age limits are only a guide. For example, if you're 55 years old, and you're interested in a woman who has stated an age limit of 50, it would be reasonable to write her a letter anyway. If we find that you have chemistry together, a few years over the stated age limit is not usually a problem.
Question: OK, I have written an intro letter for 3 women, I have sent you my photos. What happens next?
Answer: We send your intro letter and your photos to our people in Vitebsk, Minsk or Kharkov depending on where the particular woman you are contacting lives. They will then contact the women you are interested in. They will set-up the separate meetings with the women. During these meetings, the particular woman involved will get a copy of your letter, and she will be able to see your photos. They will also give the lady a hard copy of your photos, if that woman so desires.
We will get a feel for how each woman reacts to your photo and intro letter, and we will report that information back to you. The women who have a genuine interest in you will be asked to write a letter to you. We will also ask the woman to provide more photos, which we will send to you. We will not post those private photos on the site.
This is how we get things started. If you were interested in only one woman and things work out, that's great. If things do not work out for any reason, we get you started with another woman, or women, of your choosing. You're a member for life, and we will spend as much time as necessary with you to make sure you find your happiness.
You can expect to receive your first letter in response to your introduction letter about one week after we send all your information to our office in Vitebsk, Minsk or Kharkov.
Generally speaking, once you have established a correspondence with a woman, or women, you can expect to receive an answer to any lady you're writing in about 2 days. All of us work full time in this agency, we know you're anxious to get your letters, we do work during most weekends.
If you started out writing 3-4 women, eventually you will need to make some decisions. We will work with you every step of the way. Again, you're a member for life, and we will spend as much time as necessary with you to make sure you find your happiness.
Question: I have been writing to my lady now for a few months, we feel we are ready for our meeting. What do we need to do to get that set up?
Answer: We need to get you your Family Invitation Visa if you will be staying with your lady at her home in Belarus. If you will be staying with your lady in her home during your trip, this special Visa is required by the government of Belarus. We will help you get the Visa, we already have that worked-out at the airport with our contact there. Transportation to and from the airport, hotel reservations, we will help with all arrangements in Vitebsk, Minsk and Kharkov. Men visiting Kharkov do not need a Visa.
Question: You say that some members spend their time at the home of their lady. Is that the best way to set up the trip?
Answer: If you and your lady agree to this set-up, this is a good way for you and your lady to get to know each other as much as possible. You also need to meet her parents, friends, and to get to understand the environment where your future wife comes from. What better way to accomplish that than to stay with her, in her environment?
If you will be meeting more than one woman during your trip to Vitebsk, Minsk or Kharkov, we will get you set-up with your own separate place to stay during your visit. Some guys prefer to meet more than one woman during their visit, which is fine with us. The point is, we will work with you to set-up your trip in any way you want.
You can visit Vitebsk, Minsk and Kharkov during one trip if you want.
We have over 11 years of experience with many of our members traveling to Vitebsk and Minsk over the years, we do understand that some people may not be comfortable staying with one particular woman in her home. If you don't wish to stay at the home of your lady on your visit, we can make other arrangements for you. We will discuss these arrangements with you so that you will be comfortable during your time together.
If there are ever any problems during your visit, you always have our crew to provide you with any help you might need in Vitebsk, Minsk and Kharkov.
We will discuss all your travel and lodging questions with you long before we make plans for your trip.
Question: I have noticed some members like to have their photographs in the Newsletter. You also have photos of some of your members during their trips. Do I have a choice about that?
Answer: Of course you do. Some members like to post their photos, some want total privacy. We do have members who want to remain anonymous, we respect their wishes.

This is our question and answer section. We're starting off at the very beginning, the lowest common denominator, so those of you with intelligence, please relax, let the other guys catch up, enjoy the humor if you should run across any, and let us know if you want to add anything to the section.
This section is called "This is a football", because I have always admired Vince Lombardi, I created the page, and because Nina lets me have some fun while working. :-) You American guys who have been around the block a few times will understand what this means. (For our non-American friends, you have no reason to understand this, we will explain. It means we are starting with the basics.) Now, for anyone who still does not understand, please go to AFA or Match.com, or one of those other sites.
This section is a work in progress. We will be adding, deleting, changing this section as time passes. We will post silly questions for fun, and we will post intelligent questions and answers.

Question: (This is an actual, honest to God question we get.) Does it cost money to bring a woman to my country from Belarus?
Answer: Please, please, visit a wonderful site on the internet, it's called Match.com, they will help you. You will quickly find the woman of your dreams, she will come to you, you will marry, and you will have a happy life. And.......it will cost you nothing. She will pay for the cost of membership, her transportation to your country, your wedding, and all your living expenses for the rest of your life. And as a bonus starting late '06, Match.com has Dr Phil now!

Question: Are there many "marriage agencies" on the internet?
Answer: Yes, hundreds have popped-up over the years. However, there will be a lot fewer agencies after March 6, 2006. The IMBRA Law will kill many of those "agencies" that sell women's addresses on the net.
Question: Do these agencies charge money for their services?
Answer: Most do, but there are also "free" sites around. They come and go, each one has it's own way of operating. You don't really believe the "free" part anyway, do you? These so-called "free" agencies employ the women on their sites to get you writing as many letters, and spending as much money on gifts and trips as possible. They also employ Boris and his friends to write nice letters to Western men, see below.
There are many what we call "Grocery Store" sites, these are the very large agencies who sell women's addresses by the thousands, and many run those "romance tours"....a great way to go to the FSU and "romance" a hooker. As an example, A Foreign Affair is a large agency like this. You can join and pay as little as $9 per women's address, you can place your selections into your "grocery cart," and when you're finished you take your selections to the "check-out" line, pay for your selections, and go on your merry way. Of course, thousands of other guys are doing the same thing....with your "selections." These sites have no idea who these women are and they couldn't care less. They're in the "grocery" business, all they care about is selling as many women's addresses as they possibly can. The better looking women on these sites can get 400-800 letters per month. So much work....so little time.
Another problem with the "Grocery Store" and "free" sites is scammers will set-up beautiful photos and profiles on these sites, all fake of course, and go fishing for Western men. Some poor guys will get hooked on photos like this:

Question: There are also many nude or exotic Russian women sites on the net. Some even offer exotic vacations with "escorts," where a man can take a trip, meet the ladies, and even get married. Are these sites for real?
Answer: Yes, there are a few real sites like that, we were contacted by one of them. These people are in the "escort" business. They wanted us to try to talk our female members into being "escorts." If a man wants to chase naked broads around, have some "paid-sex," and basically party with hookers, there are some sites where he can do that type thing. Hell, a man could probably talk one of these hookers into marriage if he's stupid enough, gets drunk enough, and has enough money to throw around and get her drunk enough. Or perhaps a combination of all that. :-) Anyone who wants to have some fun with a professional, and many times Damn good looking escort, should get in touch with one of these sites.
This is not reality.

Question: Does Belarus Bride charge fees for their services?
Answer: Yes we do.

Answer: We haven't yet received our "charitable organization" charter from the IRS.
Question: OK, seriously, why should I or anyone else join your group?
Answer: To avoid the pitfalls on this journey, and to make the experience an enjoyable one. We have our formula, we do charge for our services, and we believe we do things right. When we have made mistakes, we have worked like hell to correct them. See below. If you agree with us, join the group. If you don't agree with us, don't join the group.
Here's a discussion of our services:
Question: Do you have any other guarantees?
Answer: Yes:
We guarantee you, as a member, that we will take all the time necessary with you to find your mate, and to make sure that BOTH of you are compatible and happy with each other. We guarantee you that you will be totally satisfied with our service. There is no time limit on your membership. Finding a compatible mate is not a race. We also guarantee you and your lady that we will be here for you after you are married. This is a "gentleman's agreement," we don't use contracts. We will be reasonable people, we expect the same of our members. This requires trust on the part of everyone involved.
We also guarantee you that we will take the stress and intimidation factors out of this process. You know, all those hundreds of sites out there all offering instant access to beautiful women. To be honest, all that is intimidating. You're expected to start a relationship with no help at all? We feel the only way to perform real matchmaking between two people is to know both people involved on a personal level. This is what we call real, old fashion matchmaking. New technology is great in some applications, but it has no place in matchmaking. That needs to be done on a personal level.
Question: Why don't you guys guarantee me I will find my mate within one year of joining your group? I have seen such a guarantee on another site, they will even refund the cost of my membership if I don't get engaged within one year of joining?
Answer: We think it's silly to put a time limit on a guarantee. All that does is give the agency a financial incentive to get you engaged to a woman, ANY woman, before the time limit lapses. They don't want to return the fee, which is much higher than ours, by the way.
Question: One question that comes up a lot is about the "socials" that the large "grocery store" type sites set-up in Moscow, St. Pete, Kiev, Odessa, and many of the larger cities. These sites set-up "tours," and they run ads in the newspapers inviting local women to come to the socials. We're constantly being asked what we think of these "tours."
Answer: That's an expensive way to meet good looking hookers, and good looking "green card chasers."
My question is always, why spend the money to go all the way to the FSU to meet a hooker when you can find those in your own city, without all the travel expense?
Question: Do I need to be a "Tom Cruise" type looking guy to get myself a good looking wife?
Answer: No. Take a look at our Newsletter Archives and our Weddings Page. You will notice that our group consists of normal looking guys. We haven't noticed any "Adonis" types hanging around lately. :-)
Question: Have you guys ever made any mistakes in your 11 years of operation?
Answer: We have made some mistakes, these last few years have been a real learning experience for us. We set-up a separate page listing those mistakes, hit the link below if you're interested. And yes, we will have some fun making fun of ourselves. :-) Nina and I have learned that we can be real "rocket scientists" at times.
The important thing is this: We have learned from our mistakes.
Question: You have e-mail service to your ladies. Once I join the group, can I have the phone number, regular mail address, and if the lady or ladies I am writing have a computer, can I have their e-mail address?
Answer: Yes. We get all that information to our members within a day or two of the request, once we get permission from the woman involved.
Question: Is there any time I can't have all that information?
Answer: Yes. If you join on payments, we will not give out any of that information until your membership fee is paid in full. When we started the group, we did divulge women's personal information to members who were making payments, we were trusting souls. We had one guy who joined our group on payments. We trusted him, and we did release his lady's information to him. This guy even took a trip to Vitebsk. He enjoyed all our hospitality, and he did bring his fiancé back home with him. The only thing this man didn't do was pay us, as he agreed. We later heard this guy was with his fiancé on her trip to Warsaw, and he tried to cross the Belarus/Poland border on the train without the proper paperwork. Not a wise thing to do.
Question: If I am writing to a woman and she asks you for my e-mail address, will you give her that information? After all there are internet cafes, my lady can write me an e-mail from there.
Answer: No, WE will not give any woman your e-mail address. YOU can give your e-mail address to any woman on our site you choose, that is your decision. We will not divulge your personal information to anyone.
Question: I'm writing to a woman, we've exchanged a few letters. What should I be writing about? I want to start thinking about my trip in the future, I want to be confident this is the woman for me before I make the trip.
Answer: Let's talk about this issue on the phone.

Question: You sell Roses and gifts. Do I need to use your service if I want to send a gift to a woman?
Answer: You can use any service you choose. You will have the address of the woman, you can send any package, gift, anything you want to send.
Question: Does Belarus Bride make money when selling gifts or flowers?
Answer: Of course we make a profit.
This is how we handle gifts. We send the funds to Belarus via Western Union and pay the fee and the Belarus tax. Valentina and Elena go out, purchase the flowers, or whatever the gift is, and set up a meeting with the woman involved as a surprise. When the lady arrives she receives her gift, and we take a couple of photos. We get the photos developed, and e-mail those to you. She will usually spend some time with our crew over there, in general a good time is had by all. Same way in Kharkov with Ludmila and Minsk with Tatiana.
This takes some time and effort to produce an enjoyable surprise for the woman involved. We don't do this for free.
Flowers especially take planning, because they must be delivered quickly. In Vitebsk, Minsk and Kharkov, there is no way to keep them in pristine shape for days. We need to plan the purchase, make sure the woman can come in to see us, and we want to set all this up as a surprise. Believe it or not, most of our women have never received flowers from anyone their entire lives. This is a special occasion that needs to be handled correctly. Sure, we could do a crappy rush job. Sure, that would cost less. You know what? Nope!
Our flower prices are as follows, as of 11-7-2011. These prices are subject to change, we always confirm pricing with you. Western Union charge and Belarus tax are extra:
3 roses: $45.
5 roses: $60.
7 roses: $70.
9 roses: $85.
Any other type gift, we will discuss with you.
Question: I want to send some funds to my lady, will you guys handle that for me?
Answer: As of 9-1-02, Belarus has instituted a tax on all monies sent via Western Union to anyone in Belarus. We will discuss this issue with you in private.
Kharkov is easier, you can send funds without any problem.
Question: You say that you know all the women on your site personally. Is this really true?
Answer: Yes, it's true:
We only accept new female members to our group who have been referred to us by current female members. For a woman to be accepted into our group, she must have a job or be a full time student if she is of that age. She must be a good woman in our opinion and in the opinion of the members who referred her to us. Finally, we must like her as a person, we must feel that she will be a good Russian bride.
We have had lots of our male members who have been to Vitebsk and Minsk come back and tell us something like this: "Greg and Nina, you guys were right. I can't believe how many beautiful Russian women are walking around that town without any men."
If we accepted every woman who called us into our group, we would by now have 5800 female members, not 580.
We have about 580 female members at this writing, and of course we know some much better than others. Some we don't see so often, that is, until they get a letter from one of our male members. Some we know very well when they first sign up.
The point is this: When one of our ladies begins to correspond with one of our male members, we get to know them much better no matter who they are because they must spend lots of time with Valentina, Elena, Ludmila and Alexander in Vitebsk, or Tatiana in Minsk or Ludmila in Kharkov. They must personally bring their letters, they must personally pick up their letters, and when they do of course they spend some time with our crew. They talk, we listen.
This is when we really get to know this person, and we get to know the person in different, emotional, sometimes stressful situations.
The old saying which goes something like this: "With enough time and pressure, all truth is known," is true.
This allows us to really get to know the woman, how she and our male member react to each other, how they get along with each other.
Question: Have you ever had a situation where a man and woman were writing, and you found the woman was not acting in an appropriate manner? If yes, what did you do?
Answer: Yes we have had that situation. We advised the male member to break off all contact with that person, we banned that particular woman if she deserved that, and we have introduced that male member to other female members. We have had a couple of instances where this actually happened. The male member lost a few dollars on correspondence, a gift or two were purchased, and in two cases the male member lost a few dollars on English lessons. What the male member did not lose was the cost of a trip, the heartache of finding out much later about the problems and all the emotional heartache associated with that, and he did not get to the point where he considered marriage.
This is what "time and pressure" can accomplish. We try to find out if we have a good match before things get too far. In a way it's like dating. The big difference in this situation is that our men have the time to "think with their big heads."
Question: Why can't you get better photographs of the women? Some of the photos look like they came from her wallet?
Answer: That's because they did.
We see some women who have portfolios, literally. Some have full nudity, you would not believe the interesting poses, and we see some women who spent lots of money to set these "photo shoots" up. They spent this time and money as an investment. They are "fishing," trying to see what they can catch.
You, our dear friends, are the "fish." We do not accept this type woman.
Many of our guys come back from their trip and tell us something like this. "Greg and Nina, I have met a few female friends of my lady, also members, and they look much better in real life than their photos show on the site. Why don't you get better photos?" It's a good question, and there should be a simple answer.
There isn't.
Most of our Russian women never believe, really deep down, that they will meet a man. They don't believe they will be a Belarus Bride anytime soon, in other words. They don't take the time to get us better photos even when we keep asking them to get it done. There are of course exceptions, some ladies do get us extra photos. It's amazing to see the difference in their thinking when a man writes them a letter. At that time, the women is interested in a man, she is excited, she will get photos for him. We do not post those photos on her page, after all, she took those photos for a specific man. The only time we would post these photos is if that particular Russian woman and man did not continue corresponding. If that woman requests at that time to add the photos, we will do that for her.
We now have Ludmila in Kharkov Ukraine working with us, as of 2007. Kharkov is on the Russian border in the far Eastern part of Ukraine. All the women in Kharkov are Russian women. They also have a hard time believing they will meet a man, right up until the time it happens. Photos are much easier to get once they are excited about being with one of our men. That's just human nature.
Question: "Do folks in Belarus see and/or know about the movies that we have here? Not only am I asking about the major, blockbuster, theater titles, but also the older comedy, westerns, adventure, titles -ie., Captain Horatio Hornblower, Captain Blood, The Sea Hawk, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, The Quiet Man, H.G.Wells- The Time Machine, and so on."
Answer: About movies, this is what I found. In Vitebsk, they will see the new "big hit" movies on free TV. The Belarus channels must run pirated copies. They do not see much of the old American classics, so if you do talk about an old classic, you might want to include a brief description of the movie. As an example, Nina and Arthur thought "The Wizard of Oz" was a cartoon. They knew the story, generally, but they had no idea that was a classic movie from 1939. Or was it 1938? Anyway, you get my point........It was 1939, and Nina just informed me they have seen the original "Time Machine"........Go figure. :-)
Here's something else we have learned in the last few years. When dealing with people in emotionally charged situations, nothing, and we mean nothing, is simple.
One of our members, Kalvin, asked us months ago if we could come up with a list of all the holidays in Belarus. He wanted to be able to think about any appropriate gifts in advance of the holidays. We will discuss this issue with our members on the phone.
Note: We will discuss all travel questions personally with our members. We have lots of experience with travel to Belarus and Ukraine, and yes, there are many issues to discuss.
