New captain....a 21-year-old!

Played Tuesday, won 1-0 in Europe, now qualified for the knockout stages.

Played Sunday, won 2-1 at title favourites Chelsea!

Amazing what a new captain can do......Great week!

So....The Browns hosted Indy yesterday. Indy 10....Browns 6. Congrats to all you Indy Fans!

Let me explain something here. The score....10-6, would have some of us....Who didn't watch the game....guessing the game was close. NOT! The Browns looked....Like they didn't belong on the same field....Browns Stadium....Our normal Sunday afternoon football disaster....We're down to our 3rd string QB....And to top it all off....We play Tennessee away on Sunday. That's 11-1 Tennessee....Oh Boy....

We just took a look at the extended weather forecast for North East Ohio....Provided by the National Weather Service.

"Cold & Shitty next two days....Colder and Shittier thru the weekend...."

We have CNBC running all day long in the background here while we work....Funny....how those stock market "professionals" couldn't forsee the future any better than a 3 year old in a pre-school class. Remember a few months back when they were all talking about the certainty that oil would hit $200 per barrel? Terrible, they said. Horrible for the economy!

Now....With oil around $49 per barrel....Which not one of those morons foresaw....What are they saying about $49 barrel oil? Terrible! Horrible for the economy.

Excuse me....What the Hell is good for the economy?

No Virginia....The Sky isn't falling. The Central Banks around the world are doing what they need to do....This recession will be over long before the idiots on CNBC ever realize what's going on. Fine "professionals" they are.

CNBC-A bunch of morons who couldn't predict....or explain....Their way out of a paper bag if it came-up and bit them in their collective asses. All they can do....is follow the herd.

We hope everyone had a nice weekend!

If you're a Cleveland Browns fan....Not so great yesterday afternoon. If you're a Tennessee Titans Fan....Nice few hours yesterday afternoon. Titans 28....Browns 9. Congrats to you Titans fans! Took your Division! Frankly....Nina and I were surprised the score wasn't more lop-sided.

Sports Update:

Arsenal played on Tuesday: Lost 2-0 in the cup with our kids. Not sure how we lost that one, we played quite well!

Played Saturday: won 1-0 in the league. A little bit scary in the end, but we held on for 3 points!

We have rain this morning here in Akron Ohio....Beats the Ice we got last evening!

Our Good Bud Chris sent us a nice joke....Thanks Chris!

The Amish Elevator:

For the first time in their lives, an Amish boy and his father were in a big-city mall.  They were amazed by almost everything they saw, but especially by two shiny, silver walls that could move apart and then slide back together again.

The boy asked, 'What is this Father?' The father responded, 'Son, I have never seen anything like this in my life, I don't know what it is.'

While the boy and his father were watching with amazement, a fat old lady in a wheel chair moved up to the moving walls and pressed a button. The walls opened and the lady rolled between them into a small room. The walls closed and the boy and his father watched  the small numbers above the walls light up sequentially. They continued  to watch until it reached the last number and then the numbers began to  light in the reverse order. Finally the walls opened up again and a large-breasted gorgeous 24-year-old blonde stepped out.

The father, not taking his eyes off the young woman, said quietly to his son, 'Go get your mother.'

Subject: Never Lie to Your Mother

HAVING MOM OVER FOR DINNER 

You  don't even have to be a mother to enjoy this  one... 

Brian  invited his mother over for dinner.  During the course of the meal,

Brian's mother couldn't help but notice how beautiful Brian's roommate,

Jennifer, was.   Brian's Mom had long been suspicious of a relationship

between Brian and Jennifer, and this had only made her more  curious. 

Over the course of the evening, while watching the two interact, she
started to wonder if there was more between Brian and Jennifer than met the eye. 

Reading his mom's thoughts, Brian volunteered, "I know what you must

be thinking, but I assure you Jennifer and I are just roommates." 
 
About a week  later, Jennifer came to Brian saying, "ever since your 

mother came to dinner, I've been unable to find the  beautiful silver

gravy ladle.   You don't suppose she took  it, do you?" 
 
Brian said, "Well, I doubt it, but I'll send her an e-mail just to be sure.

So he sat down and wrote:

Played Tuesday, lost 2-0 in Europe. We played our kids to give them experience, as we had already qualified for the next stage.

Played Saturday, drew 1-1 in the league.  Not the best of weeks.

Sorry to hear that Bud....Next week will be better!

The Cleveland Browns got killed by the Eagles last night....30-10....We hear this morning. Didn't bother watching....Congrats to you Eagles Fans tho....Things won't be better for the Browns next week....Maybe we should consider becoming Steelers fans?

We have the beginnings of a Winter Storm this morning....Ice...Ice...Ice Everywhere....Man....It's Terrible out there this morning. But....It's Friday!

Our Good Bud from Michigan....Jim....Sent us a joke....To help us get past the storm... Thanks Jim! :-)

Subject: Iraqi Hockey Player

The Detroit Red Wings foreign scout flies to Baghdad  to watch a young Iraqi play hockey in the new American sponsored league and is suitably impressed and arranges for him to come over to the US.  Ken  Holland signs him to a one year contract and the kid joins the team for the preseason. 

Two  weeks later the Wings are down 4-0 to the Blackhawks with only 10 minutes left. Mike Babcock gives the young Iraqi the nod and he goes in. The kid is a sensation. He scores 5 goals in10 minutes and wins the game for Wings! 

The fans are delighted, the players and coaches are delighted and the media love the new star. When the player comes off the ice he phones his mom to tell her about his first day of NHL hockey.

'Hello mom, guess what?' he says in an Iraqi accent.  'I played for 10 minutes today. We were 4-0 down, but I scored 5 goals and we won. Everybody loves me, the fans,  the media, they all love me.'

Wonderful,' says his mom, 'Now, let me tell you about my day. Your father got shot in the street and robbed, your sister and I were ambushed, raped and beaten, your brother has joined a gang of looters, and all while you were having such great time.' 

The young Iraqi is very upset.   'What can I say mom, but I'm so sorry.' 

'Sorry? You're sorry?' says his mom, 'It's your fault we moved to Detroit in the first place!"

Chris, Nina and I were on the phone the other day....He mentioned, and we agree....We need to stop and give thanks to all our guys in the Military....Serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, All over the world. Chris has a son....He's serving over in Iraq. Our guys don't have the luxury of our heated homes....Our Loved Ones by our side....They are out there in the freezing cold making sure all of us are safe and warm. We hope everyone had a nice weekend! We did here....

Well....Christmas is behind us....The New Year festivities are almost upon us....And some football fans have the post season to be excited about. Not us Cleveland Browns fans....Except as bystanders....But....Congrats to you Steelers fans! Steelers 31....Browns 0....Our GM Phil Savage is gone....After our 4-12 season....We figure our coach is gone in a few hours. So much for our 2008 season. Things are looking up tho!

Can you believe '09 is a couple days away! Jim sent us a nice joke this morning....Thanks Jim!

The marriage of an 80-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman was the talk of the
town.

After being married a year, the couple went to the hospital for the birth of
their first child.

The attending nurse came out of the delivery room to congratulate the old
gentleman and said, 'This is amazing. How do you do it at your age?'

The old man grinned and said, 'You've gotta to keep the old motor running.'

The following year, the couple returned to the hospital for the birth of their
second child. The same nurse was attending the delivery and again went out to
congratulate the old gentleman. She said, 'Sir, you are something else. How do
you manage it?'

The old man grinned and said, 'You've gotta keep the old motor running.'

A year later, the couple returned to the hospital for the birth of their third
child. The same nurse wa s there for this birth also and, after the delivery, she
once again approached the old gentleman, smiled, and said, 'Well, you surely are
something else! How do you do it?'

The old man replied, 'It's like I've told you before, you've gotta keep the old
motor running.'

The nurse, still smiling, patted him on the back and said:
'Well, I guess it's time to change the oil. This one's black.'

Keep that motor running is right! :-)

You ready to write '09 on your checks and everything? No? Us too. We can't believe how '08 just Blew-By.

Some very cool events com'in up tho....New Years Eve is fun....And....We have one of our favorite English members visiting us here on Januyary 7!

Brett will be flying in on the evening of the 7th! We are really looking forward to spending a few days with Brett! We are going to have A Blast! :-)

Hey Brett! You all packed? Bring some warm clothes....You will be flying right into our Ohio winter! :-) You will be flying Across-The-Pond real soon now!

Speaking of our favorite English members....Rob....Who spent some time with us here last summer...And Man....Did we have a great time!....Sent us his Across-The-Pond-Sports-Report concerning City....

"OK....City won 5-1 on Boxing Day....A nice easy one against Hull City yesterday! We drew 2-2 against the Blackburn Rovers. We were 2-0 down with 2 Min's to go....So that was a nice result!"

Last Day Of The Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

 

Before we hit '09 with a Bang....Brett sent us his Across-The-Pond-Sports-Report....

By the way, I apologise for not keeping you up to date about Arsenal, it was more of a case of not getting round to tell you what’s been happening, and when I do, I forget to tell you about it!

Hope this statement below brings things up to date.

Sun 21/12 – drew 1-1 against league leaders.

Fri 26/12 – drew 2-2 in the league. We were 2-0 up with a quarter of the match to play, and we blew it!

Sun 28/12 – won 1-0 in the league. J

Basically, we haven’t lost for 6 league games now, but it doesn’t feel like an unbeaten run. Because of all the draws we’ve had, we are dropping too many points!

Sorry to hear of Browns’s ‘demise’, there’s always next year!
